Barry Cottle Joins Zynga

by on January 12, 2012

At Zynga, we want to connect the world through games and put more play in everyone’s day. To make this vision a reality, we’re building technology that allows us to scale and serve hundreds of millions of players. Our approach and investment in tech and infrastructure serves as the iron, but our talent, creativity and ability to make great social games is the art. We’re always looking for exceptional candidates, and we consistently hone in on leaders who understand the intersection of entertainment, technology and gaming.

Today, Zynga is proud to announce that Barry Cottle has joined the company as EVP, Business and Corporate Development. Barry brings to Zynga over 20 years of experience in entertainment, tech and gaming from Palm Inc., The Walt Disney Company and most recently Electronic Arts. While at Electronic Arts, Barry served as EVP, EA Interactive, where he led the company’s mobile, social and casual online games strategy.

Prior to EA, Cottle was the founder and CEO of QuickOffice Inc., and before that, he served as Palm’s Chief Operating Officer. Cottle worked at The Walt Disney Company throughout the 90s, where he served most recently as SVP of Marketing at Disney Televentures and CMO of Americast, a half billion dollar joint venture that pioneered the development of digital TV and broadband Internet applications and services.

Barry embodies a right brain, left brain approach – the art and iron that’s helped make Zynga what it is today. On a personal level, Barry is a great person who brings humility and curiosity and I'm confident he will fit in well with Zynga’s culture.

Welcome to the team Barry; get ready for a fun ride.
