Zynga.org Kicks Off First-Ever Global Week of Service

by on September 28, 2012

As Zynga’s philanthropic arm, Zynga.org is helping to make the world a better place through play. Zynga players have shown they are generous and kind, making nearly 2.5 million contributions to charitable organizations through Zynga games to date. Zynga employees are passionate too, and are committed to giving back.

We’re excited to share that tomorrow Zynga.org will launch its first-ever Global Week of Volunteer Service. Around the world, Zynga employees will be pitching in their communities in four areas of need: community building, youth and education, animal welfare, and economic opportunity and jobs.

The official kick-off starts at home in San Francisco, where Zynga employees, in partnership with KaBOOM! and the Mission YMCA, will build a new playground for the children and families of the Mission YMCA. Zynga employees from across the Bay Area will join with community members to complete this project – in single day! We can’t wait to share the results with the kids!

We’ve already had two of our international studios get a head start on the Week of Service. Zynga employees in Beijing and Bangalore have volunteered in support of children’s initiatives in their respective cities. Here in the United States, our Los Angeles studio helped raise money for rescued pets, while our San Diego studio visited a local Ronald McDonald House.

We’ll be getting an early start tomorrow morning on the new playground for the Mission YMCA and all throughout next week, Zynga employees will be heading out to lend a hand.

Stay tuned for more from Zynga.org!
